The MILA. Album on the Web

I've been meaning to post about MILA. for a while. My brother and I finished this little project/experiment last week.

I composed nine songs/song sketches a while back and Dan and I got the idea to make a release of sorts out of it. Dan made a piece of song-art for each song and I made a video for each song.

Below is each piece of song-art.

I created a presence for MILA. across various social networks and video hosting services.

The goal was to distribute the video, music, and song-art to multiple places across the web to see what what was easy, what was not, what needs to be improved and what needs to be developed for artists to help them use the web as a creation platform.

There are a lot of areas to improve but we're starting to see the beginning of this creation. I mentioned in a previous post that Tubemogul and Tunecore are developing services that are making the web an easier place to manage for artists.

There needs to be a dashboard of sorts that artists can use to manage all of these destination sites easily. That would just ease up the work load on an artist who is self-managed (and there are a lot of those types today).

Below are screen shots of some of the sites where we created a presence.

We used Tumblr as our hub. That page is what I refer to as the MILA. album on the web. It has all the essential components. Streaming music, video, song-art, description, and contact info to find out more.

Here is a list of places where MILA. lives on the web.
